Essential oils and their benefit are widely talked about now, and for good reason.
They can provide a boost when you are low in energy due to lack of a good solid sleep, or low in mood when the world’s problems get the better of you. They can focus the mind when working from home is full of distractions, and help calm the kids when another day at home is driving them crazy. But sometimes getting the diffuser going, or making that roller is just another thing that doesn’t get done, so let’s look at other ways you can get the benefits of essential oils during your usual daily routines.
Skin care products: I use only real, therapeutic grade, certified organic essential oils in my skin care products. This means they work wonders on the skin but also provide real benefits to our mental and emotional health when inhaled.
Every time you use your products, take just a few extra seconds to pause and breathe in the scents.
Every product (with essential oils) has it’s benefits.. here are a few of my favourites:
Argan & Frankincense Facial Oil has frankincense and neroli essential oils, both incredibly calming for the nervous system.
Neroli & Lemon Balancing Moisturizer has neroli and lemon for a gentle uplift of the spirits.
Sea Buckthorn & Geranium Balancing Facial oil has chamomile and geranium essential oils for the ultimate in calm and balance.
Rose & Frankincense Nourishing Moisturizer has Bulgarian steam-distilled rose and frankincense for nurturing the heart and warming the soul.
Household and body care products: When buying dish soap, body washes or bubble baths I make sure to spend a little extra to buy brands who use real essential oils. Most companies use synthetic fragrances which may sound appealing but are actually quite toxic to our bodies, and have no aromatherapy benefits. When you invest in products with real essential oils, not only are you keeping you and your family safer but you can use daily chores like washing the dishes or the floors and your daily shower or bath as an aromatherapy experience.
I love citrusy dish soaps, shampoos and shower gels, minty bathroom cleaners and lavender and floral bubble baths.
Sometimes it can be hard to tell if a brand uses real essential oils, so a great way to ensure you are getting the real deal is to buy the unscented versions and add your own. Citrus, mint and lavender essential oils are all relatively inexpensive so can bought separately and added. I tip out the whole bottle into a jug, add the essential oils, stir thoroughly, then pour back into the container.
For a guide add 2ml of essential oil in 500ml unscented liquid soap
