We eat a LOT of avocados in my household. In smoothies, on toast and I recently discovered grilling them on the BBQ – trust me, try it! However, the avocado isn’t just tasty and full of healthy fats for our insides; it’s oil is also good for us on the outside.
Avocado Oil to Heal & Protect Your Skin
My products are designed to naturally support the skin’s processes of growth and repair, and avocado oil is one of the ingredients I trust to do so. It’s extremely rich in both oleic acid and the well-known antioxidant vitamin E to protect and heal our skin.
The vitamin E from our diet plays an important part in skin function and health, and is delivered to our skin through our sebum (the skin’s natural oil). There, it acts as an antioxidant to protect our skin from free-radical cell damage. It also has the ability to absorb UV rays, aiding in the prevention of further sun damage. Since it’s so easily absorbed, avocado oil is an excellent way to supplement the skin with vitamin E’s protective power.
It’s regular practice to apply pure vitamin E oil to cuts and scars to help them heal, but we may be better off using avocado oil. Avocado oil’s combination of oleic acid and essential fatty acids has been shown to promote collagen synthesis while decreasing inflammation during wound healing. These supportive properties of avocado oil make it a perfect choice for taking care of our skin.
Benefit from Avocado Oil with these Products
Avocado oil is very rich but easily absorbed, which is why I’ve included it in my Hand & Body Creams. It is great for feeding and protecting our hard working and always exposed skin on our hands.
The Chamomile & Calendula Hand & Body Cream is perfect for dry and irritable skin, and is gentle enough for even baby’s skin. Or try the soothing and moisturizing Cedarwood & Calendula Hand & Body Cream, which includes the antiseptic, antifungal and healing benefits of Red Western Cedarwood oil.
And once your hands are nourished, don’t forget to protect the delicate skin on your face and rest of your body. Avocado oil’s natural sun protection is just one part of my non-greasy Sun Creams. Both the Camomile & Calendula Sun Cream and the Lavender & Lemongrass Sun Cream offer broad spectrum protection from UVA & UVB rays using non-nano zinc oxide.

Taking care of your skin may come down to science, but it doesn’t need to be difficult nor include a roster of over-processed ingredients to work. My formulations only have a few ingredients, but are the ones richest in nutrients for our skin. Unrefined, unprocessed, and certified organic Avocado oil is one that meets my highest standards.
